Bio
Ms. Inukai has been teaching in the Professional Writing Program
at the University of Maryland College Park since 1987. She has taught
Technical Writing, Business Writing, and Advanced Composition.
In Spring,
2006, Ms. Inukai was invited by the Department of Mathematics to
present a mini-course on technical communication to graduate students.
At the Professional Writing Program's twenty-fifth anniversary conference "Beyond
the Classroom: Writing that Works", Ms. Inukai spoke about “The
Lost Skill of Grammar.”
Ms. Inukai earned her M.A. in Linguistics and T.E.S.O.L. (Teaching
English to Speakers of Other Languages) from Columbia University after
receiving her B.A. in French from Ohio State University . She is Faculty
Advisor to the American Marketing Association at the Robert H. Smith
School of Business, Shady Grove Campus.
Prior
to joining the Professional Writing Program, she taught English at
Columbia University and Hunter College in New York City . She was
also Vice President of Training at Manufacturer’s Hanover Trust
Company in New York and the Director of Montgomery Language Center
in Maryland .
Ms. Inukai speaks French, Spanish, Japanese, and Hebrew. She takes
a special interest in teaching communication skills, both oral and
written, to international students. In her current consulting business,
Triple Crown Communications, Ms. Inukai provides communication training
to Speakers of English as a Second Language working in American companies.
Ms. Inukai
is a member of the Association of Business Communication (ABC), Association
of Professional Communication Consultants (APCC), Society of Technical
Communication (STC), and Teachers of English to Speakers of Other
Languages (TESOL). [Rev.
