PWP 2008 Writing Contest: On Wednesday, May 13, the Professional Writing Program's faculty celebrated the winners of the 2008 writing contest.
Lea Chartock Named Director of Professional Writing Program: English Department chairman Kent Cartwright announced the appointment of Lea Chartock as director of the Professional Writing Program, effective July 1, 2007. Lea brings to this position her many years of experience as writer, editor, consultant and administrator, including thirteen years of teaching for the Professional Writing Program.
Her goals for the program include maintaining the program’s courses for students, continuing professional development for faculty, and strengthening the work of the Professional Writing Group, the program’s consulting service.
Professor Michael Marcuse Retires: The Professional Writing Program’s founding director retired on June 30, 2007. Professor Marcuse created this innovative program that challenges students to master the genres that they will have to write throughout their professional careers.
In addition to his scholarly achievements and his many consultations, Michael Marcuse guided a faculty of fifty professionals. We will miss his wisdom and experience. But we wish him a long, happy, and prosperous retirement.
